Blakes Lotaburger

With over 75 locations in New Mexico, Blakes Lotaburger has become a New Mexico institution. Blakes Lotaburger is by far the best chain burger restaurant in New Mexico. Some people call it “Blakes” others call it “Lotaburger” which ever way you call it, people will know what you are talking about. Lotaburger offers good quality food. Many of the location’s now have drive-in’s, but still the fastest way is to go inside and order at the window. Once you order you will be given a number and when your order is ready the number will be called.
The signature burger is the Lotaburger. Most of the time I get it with cheese and green chile. It is not over greasy and the bun’s taste great. Lotaburger contry fries are good, but most the times I order my combo with season fries. I also like Lotaburgers chicken tender combo, which comes with chicken tenders, seasoned fries, and a medium drink. I enjoy their drinks, especially the ice that makes the drinks unique. My wife is an ice conosur, she always goes to Blakes for their drinks. Their shakes are wonderful, especially vanilla, my favorite.
I have to disclose that I worked for Blakes Lotaburger when I was in high school. It was the hardest fast food job I have ever had. They are super clean compared to other fast food places I have worked. Their is very little waste, if an employe dropped something on the ground or their was a order canceled, the employe would have to place the food in a special container and document anything that was to be placed in the trash. This is opposite of all the national food chains that I have worked for, they waste a lot of food. Lotaburger also make everything fresh and use quality ingredient’s, that’s why they are significantly slower. I would highly recommend Blakes Lotaburger if you are in the mood for a good quality green chile cheese burger.

Why is there no score for ambiance? I am a New Mexico native who has been to Lotaburger on several occasions through out my life, and I have to say that Lotaburger has a very special atmosphere. It might be the low riders passing the huge glass windows or eating at the wraparound tables with the round chairs. Needless to say, Lotaburger does have an ambiance, and those of us who grew up eating green chili burgers can vouch for that. So, I will give Blakes Lotaburger an ambiance score of 8.

I have to say I appreciate the photo of the Blake’s burger that you posted. I lived in Albuquerque for 3 years, many years ago, and I absolutely crave Blakes hamburgers and green chili dogs. I live in Texas now and I can’t get them, but a few years ago my husband and I were on a roadtrip through NM, and I took him to a Blakes. I had been raving about them for years and he was skeptical, but one bite and he was hooked too. If they would expand to Texas, my husband and I would keep them in business.

I think they have the best green chili cheeseburger, but their patties have gotten so thin you wonder if you are just getting a green chili grilled cheese. They arent “In-and-Out Burger” but they are pretty good.

I am originally from Albuquerque, NM but I now live in North Carolina. I visit when I can and when I do I love to eat at Lotaburger. I am very interested in opening up a franchise in my town. I have all idea that it would be very successful. Can you please let me know if this is possible.
Thank you for your time.

Meat: Burnt on the outside; FROZEN in the middle.
I’ve gone to the store at 3207 Richmond NE for a few years, but after todays (06/04/08) experience I will not be returning. The meat I was served was - to put it nicely - the worst thing I have ever eaten in my entire life. I would have Taken it back and demanded a refund had I not been several miles away by the time I got to the middle of the burger, I’ve already been sick once and I’m not feeling any better. I will never again be returning to Blakes and will not be suggesting it to anyone I know.

I wish Blakes would hire at least ONE person to work in the store that knows English, everytime I phone in an order it’s completely wrong when I receive it. Fixing the order then becomes another major difficulty.

I was born and raised in ABQ but have lived in Nevada for many years now. The cravings for a Blake’s with extra green never goes away!

haven’t gotten the bug for this place. They could go out of business and I’d never notice. Only reason I eat there is because my wife is hooked. The bun is soaked with beef fat from the burgers. Yuck! I’d sooner go to BK and pay 1/2 the price AND have the charbroiled flavor.
