I knew it was coming! With the popularity of Buffalo chicken wings, sooner or later we were going to see a restaurant dedicated to the popular bar food, “The Chicken Wing”. Being a chicken wing fan, I had high hopes for the Wing Basket. The Wing Basket offers eight flavors of wings: WB Original, Hot, TNT, Barbecue, Honey Mustard, Kentucky Bourbon, Garlic Parmesan, and Lemon Pepper. Along with their wings they also offer chicken tenders, fries, and other various sides.
The interior of the restaurant has a fresh picnicy-farm theme. There is plenty of seating for being such a small restaurant. You can order at the counter or call ahead for take-out. The staff is usually friendly and willing to give recommendations. The service can be a tad slow when you order at the restaurant, so call ahead.
The sauces at the Wing Basket were all decent. The sugar based sauces, such as the Kentucky Bourbon, and Honey Mustard, were too sweet. The Honey Mustard seemed to be missing the MUSTARD. Of all the buffalo sauces, the hot buffalo sauce was the only one spicy enough for me. I have tried all of the flavors except for the TNT. The main problem with the wings at the Wing Basket is the quality. On all the occasions the wings were dry and had very little meat, mostly dry skin and bones. One time at the West Bluff Center location, the wings had absolutely no meat, what so ever. If there was meat, it must have disappeared in the deep fryer. I love wings, but these are very low quality. The fries were soggy and tasted sweet. I have to say the only thing I did like were the sweet stix.
I have had the Wing Basket four times and all were consistently mediocre. If they upgrade their quality of wings, I would give them another try. Until then I could just not recommend the Wing Basket.
