Thanks for the write up K. I agree with that. I stop by on occasion and order a sandwich. It costs more but I always replace the brioche with the green chile bread because it is phenomenal.

As an Albuquerque newbie, I tried this bakery after repeatedly hearing that it was "the best in town" from long-time residents. I don't have enough experience to judge THAT claim, but it is dang good. The biscochitos are buttery-sandy-light (but filling!) and nicely not-too-sweet. We bought a loaf of the NM Green Chile bread, which my partner can't stop eating toasted with a little butter. The loaf presentation is lovely, and the bread itself has superior texture and a slow-build heat. Also, I was very pleased to find a baker who recognizes and emphasizes the multiple, subtle flavors of chile. It wasn't "just" hot; it was toasty, almost savory, and fresh-tasting. We also bought a basic whole wheat, which smells great although I haven't yet tried it. In short, highly recommended, esp. for people who live nearby and can just stop in for something fresh-out-of-the-oven.

WOW!!!
Golden Crown restaurant has a full service coffee bar, traditional Mexican style pastries, and have started serving pizza recently.
While the pizza is good, it's the breads at Golden Crown that give this place high marks in my book. Try either the garlic cheese bread or the green chile bread. Again, wow.
