My wife tells stories of the good times she and her friends had picking up Itsa Italian Ice on a hot summer day, back when they were on the corner of Washington and Lomas. That place is now long gone, but Albuquerque’s Itsa Italian Ice lives on with new owners.

Off second street just north of Menual, Itsa still serves up the classic frozen treats as well as some not so sweet treats. The menu is simple, burgers, Nathans hot dogs, Philly steak sandwiches and last but not least the shaved ice. Flavors include lemon, lime, grape, cherry, watermelon, cantaloupe, black raspberry, tangerine, cherry, banana, blue moon and chocolate.

Combos will set you back roughly six bucks and a regular ice $2.50.

The interior is adorned in a 50′s motif complete with red vinyl chairs, metal band tables and checkered floors.
