Nana’s is a restaurant that is best classified as family-style Italian American dining. It is a small and intimate Italian restaurant. You are given bread to start with, which was soft and tasty. Each entrée is served with a choice of soup or salad at no extra cost. The salad is one of those small plate salads with iceberg lettuce, a huge tomato and a large piece of onion. The food here is pretty good and has a unique flavor. The dishes that I would recommend are the Beef or Crab Ravioli, Antipasti Salad, and Calzones. The Small Calzone was a bargain. I also had the Ravioli Sampler which came with chicken and beef ravioli and some spaghetti on the side. The sampler was very good, but i almost couldn’t taste the difference between the chicken and the beef. The price range is about $10, which is about average for an Italian American restaurant in Albuquerque. Although they do have some dishes over priced, like the Chicken Parmesan which is $12.99.

The service I was quite disappointing when we first came in to the restaurant, no one greeted us for at least five minutes. The waitresses just keep walking right in front of us and didn’t even say ” Well be right with you” or something. It wasn’t a good start to the evenings dining experience. That said, all of our servers were really nice and they are not too busy to get everything you need when you need it. They were friendly and informal, which matched the atmosphere perfectly. It’s a laid back atmosphere so you wont be given a 5 minute speech on the history or specials of the restaurant, its just boils down to the food here. The kitchen is not viewable, but you can hear conversations from that area because it is right behind the seating area. There is not much decoration except for the traditional green and red Italian colors that are displayed everywhere.

I would recommend this restaurant to those that don’t mind being a part of a small, social restaurant and who want to try some good Italian food.

I didn’t like it that much because the bread isn’t that good, the service isn’t that good, and it doesn’t have a relazing atmosphere. Its like eating at a kitchen table.

Tried it a while back and got the lasagna. Needless to say the serving wasn’t that big and the prices were high.

There are many other italian restaurants that i’d go back to before Nana’s.

I attempted to eat here, but the service was so terrible I had to leave. I walked in to order for take out. Though it was empty, and at least 3 staff members saw me, 2 walked past, I was not acknowledged. I guess they didn’t understand “excuse me.” Finally, when the seater approached me I told her that I just wanted to order take out. She pointed to the cashier area and a blonde and said, “She’ll help you.” I walked to the cashier and said Hello. She ignored me. I gave her 1 minute. Remember, the place is empty. I told her, and the other staffers who were sitting around that I would never set foot in such a dump again.
I refuse to consume food made by people who have such contempt for the people they are feeding. Are they just jerks or racist.

I think they are just jerks because when I went there I had a similar experience. A few passed by and didnt care that we were waiting to be seated, no hello, no someone will be with you in a minute. I’m glad you told them off. I’m also never going to this place again.

I had a birthday lunch here for about 10 people and although the food was good, the service was horrible. First of all the place was practically empty when we arrived. The server took forever in giving us our salads and bread, as well as refilling drinks. She had an attitude and treated us very disrespectfully. We finally received our food and drink refills. Then when it came paying, the server refused to separate our check, claiming it would take 2 hours to do. After ignoring us for another ten minutes she said she would separate the check and then took another 30 minutes to complete the task so that we could pay and leave. She also never brought us to go boxes and we had to get up and get our own. Which obviously occurs quite often, because a woman at the next table got up and got her own refill of tea. Altogether, Nana’s has decent food, although not spectacular by any means, and has the worst service I have ever received in a restaurant.
