I would strongly advise against eating at this facility. They use to be one of the best in the city but now the quality is extremely poor. I and my date had the sirloin steaks ($19) and they were so tough and chewy we could not even eat them. Also the portions were very small (10oz) with nothing more than a baked potato to accompany. Granted we had the salad bar as well. We received half off our meal because of it but, they lost customers that evening. We went to the new Cayote Steakhouse and Cantina in the heights Father's Day and were very very pleased. We had the ribeyes (12 and 16 oz, $14 and $16) with baked potato and steam vegetables for less than what the cost of the sirloins at Cooperage were and were very enjoyable. Think twice before going to the Cooperage.

Went to eat with my wife and had to send back the food twice and finally did not eat. They still charged me $ 10.95 for the salad and said that I should come back when they are not so busy.....really, how about not come back at all!?!

I used to live in Albuquerque; but now, living in Maine, I only visit my old home once every three or four years. ABQ is chock-a-block with good restaurants these days. But one place I miss the most and dine at three or four times on each visit is the Cooperage. For steak? No. One can get a good steak almost everywhere.

It's the green chili stew which comes on alternate nights at the salad bar. I only go to the Cooperage on nights when they offer their green chili stew; it's important to call first.

I love the Cooperage and have eaten there for over 30 years. I think they make one of the best green chili chicken soups in town. I have moved from Albuqueruqe but I am glad to know they are still in business.

Although the food is pretty good, be careful when booking a 10 /- person group. You do NOT want to be stuck in the handicapped entry dinging room - on a cold night. The temp is just above freezing...food....you....everyone else gets colder than heck.

I had no idea that the Cooperage was a fine dining restaurant, I just know they have Salsa on Friday nights. I'll try it sometime because I cant think of anything better than going out for a really good steak. Texas Land and Cattle...yeah right!
